WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF ONLINE THERAPY?
- There is a greater choice of therapists from a broader geographical area.
- Increased flexibility and convenience if you have many commitments.
- You can have a session in the comfort of your own home or other location.
- You do not have to factor in travel time, traffic, or parking issues.
- You can be seen during those times you feel unable to leave your home.
- You can receive support during those difficult times when you feel alone or lonely.
- You can obtain support during the pandemic whilst keeping yourself safe.
- It provides an alternative avenue of healing when it’s just too hard to organise and commit to sessions in person.
WHEN IS ONLINE THERAPY NOT A GOOD FIT?
- If your personal safety will be compromised when online.
- If you have confused thoughts or feel extremely paranoid.
- If you are experiencing symptoms of psychosis or mania.
- If you are under the influence of alcohol or other drugs.
- If you have a diagnosis of delirium or dementia.
- If you are an inpatient of a hospital or psychiatric unit.

WHAT WILL I NEED FOR AN ONLINE SESSION?
- A smartphone or computer with a webcam for video sessions.
- Headphones or earbuds for privacy and better sound quality.
- A good internet connection. If you can stream Netflix your connection should be good enough for video sessions.
- Ensure your device is adequately charged and your technology is working smoothly.
- Ensure your computer or device has up to date software and security installed.
- Ensure that Zoom is installed on your device or computer.
- A private room or other location where you feel safe and comfortable, you will not be disturbed, and your conversation cannot be overheard.
- Please make sure you are not driving at the time of your session.
- If the session is interrupted by internet issues, use this an opportunity to take a breath, and remind yourself that sometimes things happen that are outside our control, and we can only do the best we can in each moment.
